President Joko ’Jokowi’ Widodo will join the ranks of global leaders to have his wax statue figured at Hong Kong Madame Tussauds.

Presidential Spokesperson Johan Budi SP said that in the statue, President Jokowi will pose in his daily activities, donning a white shirt and a black pant and the short folded at the end of his arm.“The statue will be made natural,” Johan said in a press conference after the meeting between President Jokowi and representatives from Museum Madame Tussauds Hong Kong at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday (12/10).

The meeting was held to take measurement of President Jokowi done by a team sent from London.Budi added that President Jokowi will also donate his personal Batik to the Museum.

In the meantime, Hong Kong Madame Tussauds General Manager, Jenny You, said the Museum decided to feature President Jokowi’s wax statue because a survey shows that the President is one of the most popular leaders in the world. The survey was done online in social media and among visitors at the museum.

“We believe that President Jokowi has a distinct leadership style because based on our survey, we found that President Jokowi is very modest and care about his people so much, especially to the poor. In addition, he also cares about the fight against corruption in the country. So, we believe that President Jokowi deserves to join other world leaders to have his wax statue figured at our museum,” Jenny further said.

The making of the statue will be done for 6 months in London at the costs of HK$1.8 million.

President Jokowi is the third Indonesian to have his wax statue figured at Madame Tussauds after Indonesia’s First President Soekarno and Indonesian-born international singer Anggun.

During the press conference, Presidential Spokesperson Johan Budi SP was accompanied by Indonesian Consul General in Hongkong Tri Tharyat. (FID/SLN) (EP/YM/Naster)
