I Believe Pancasila Can Overcome Terrorism, Radicalism: President Jokowi

In relation to the Government’s efforts to bring social justice for the people, the importance to develop the nation’s cultures, characters, and mental must not be overlooked.

The statement was made by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo in a plenary cabinet meeting on Wednesday (4/12) at the Bogor Presidential Palace.

“I often say that in facing the ever changing world order in which terrorism, radicalism, and extremism are on the rise, I believe Pancasila’s values can answer those challenges,” the President said.

President Jokowi also mentioned that in one of previous limited cabinet meetings, the Government decided to establish a President’s Working Unit for Reinforcement of Pancasila Ideology.

“We want that Pancasila’s values can be really manifested in our thoughts, mental attitude, lifestyle, and daily behaviors,” President Jokowi said.

Also attending the meeting were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of Defense Ryarmirzad Ryacudu, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno, Minister of Manpower Hanif Dakhiri, Minister of the Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) General Gatot Nurmantyo, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, and other high-ranking government officials. (SM/FID/EN/JAY/OJI/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
