President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that his statements delivered on many occasions are based on data from Government Ministries and Institutions.

“My statements are based on data from Government Ministries. You may check (the data),” the President told journalists in Pandeglang, Banten, Monday (18/2).

President Jokowi pointed out corn import as an example, saying that Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Trade have confirmed that corn import in 2018 was 180,000 tons and the export was 380,000 tons. Regarding rice import, the President said that the import aims for strategic reserves, the emergency or crop failure.

“Data from the BPS (Central Statistics Bureau) shows that in 2018 there is a 2.8 million ton (rice) surplus,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also said that the Government has reduced wildfire by more than 85% in the last three years. “Today we don’t see flight delays caused by wildfire. There is no complaint on wildfire from the people living in the regions or from neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia,” the President said.

President Jokowi further stated that conflicts related to land acquisition for infrastructure development has also been minimized and that agrarian conflicts are likely to occur before all parcels of land are certified. (DND/OJI/ES)
