As an institution mandated by the law to fight against corruption, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) must continue to be strengthened.

The statement was made by President Joko
“Jokowi” Widodo in response to reporters’ questions regarding the proposal to suspend the operation of the KPK. “I need to reiterate that I will not let KPK be weakened. Therefore, together we have to safeguard the KPK,” President Jokowi said in Mojokerto, East Java, Sunday (10/9).
Besides, the President added, in performing its task and duties, the KPK is independent and free from any interest or power.  Therefore, the President said, it is not surprising if the Commission receives full trust from the public. “As institution very much trusted by the people, the KPK must be strengthened to speed up our fight against corruption,” the President said.

President Jokowi also reminded that corruption is an extraordinary crime that must be eradicated. “I need to remind you all that corruption is an extraordinary crime. Therefore, we have to eradicate it.
