Authority of the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN) will be an agile and well-governed institution, Chairperson of IKN Authority Bambang Susantono has said.

“As for the institution, we are currently forming it with related ministries/institutions. We also want to ensure that it will be very agile but still conforms to good governance principles, so we can have an institution that is agile but well governed,” Bambang said in his press statement after he and Vice Chairperson of IKN Authority Dhony Rahajoe had a meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Friday (03/18).

Bambang added that since the onset, his party has wanted to guarantee that the governance of IKN authority will be carried out well because good governance is one of the main prerequisites to attract investors.

“The better the governance, the more investors will trust that we have credibility and certainly trust will be built,” he said.

Furthermore, Bambang pointed out that the IKN Authority functions as a government and a regulator, adding that it also has a business entity that will manage infrastructure construction and attract investors.

Therefore, Bambang expressed hope that cooperation between the government and private sectors or private investment can be more dynamic and Presidential Regulation that regulates his organization as a legal umbrella can be issued shortly.

“I hope in the near future, we will complete the Presidential Regulation on this organization because indeed, it has been waited on. We both want it done as soon as possible, don’t we, Pak Dhony? Because we will have more friends, a stronger team that can speed us up to deliver results if it is faster,” he said.

In addition, Bambang stated that his party also undergoes public consultation in forming the structure of IKN Authority to enhance it.

Bambang also expressed hope that they can fulfill people’s aspirations with public consultation.

“With public consultation, we certainly want to meet people’s [aspirations]. This is a series of four Presidential Regulations and two Government Regulation bills that ministries and institutions are working on. I hope it is completed soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, in response to Softbank pulling out as an investor in IKN development, Bambang said that people should not worry about it and his party is optimistic that with a good organizational structure, investors will come.

“There are different kinds of partners. There are big institutions, medium institutions, and even investors that only focus on one sector. For example, investors in education, health, or commercial area. So, please, the people need not worry too much about one investor pulling out because it is a process, a process of cooperating with private sectors, which is actually common in development,” he remarked.
