INA’s Initial Transaction with Strategic Partners Shows Positive Signal, Minister Says

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati Thursday (04/14) said that the signing of the master agreement between the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) and state-owned construction company PT Hutama Karya and the confirmation of start transaction with state-owned construction company PT Waskita Karya-Waskita Toll Road is initial transaction that can realize the commitment of the INA and strategic partners that has been set before.

The Minister expressed his hope that the transaction can improve the potential of investment trusts in Indonesia, especially investment in toll road, adding that, it is also expected that the transaction can be a showcase for further INA’s transactions.

“In supporting the restructuration and funding of state-owned enterprises, the results of today’s transaction will provide additional capital to PT Hutama Karya and PT Waskita Karya in strengthening the company’s financial condition so that they can continue to carry out the construction of the next toll roads,” Sri Mulyani said in Jakarta.

Afterward, the transaction is important for banking, especially the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara) as creditors of the Waskita Toll Road of PT Hutama Karya and PT Waskita Karya. With the agreement, it will improve both companies’ credit status and provide capacity to distribute additional infrastructure financing.

Moreover, the transaction is also vital for the Government to spare the allocation of the State Budget without reducing commitment to the development, the Minister continued, it will bring a positive signal to the international communities that Indonesia keeps continuing to carry out various development programs through sustainable creative financing amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani requested a support from the President, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to continue to give support to the INA, PT Hutama Karya, and Waskita Toll Road in order to build great collaboration in continuing further development.
