Inauguration of Ciliwung River Canal Gets Positive Responses

The inauguration of Ciliwung River Canal has met with positive responses from the residents living around the area.

A resident of Bidara Cina district, Urip Yanto, expressed hope that the Ciliwung River Canal can reduce flood in his neighborhood.

“The residents here hope it can overcome flood in Bidara Cina which occur every year. This canal is also expected to reduce flood and the overflow of the Ciliwung River. This is our hope,” he told reporters.

For the record, Ciliwung River Canal is built to flow water volume from Ciliwung River to Eastern Flood Canal (KBT). Besides serving as a flood control management, Ciliwung River Canal is also equipped with public facilities such as playgrounds, outdoor gyms, public toilets, fountain plazas, and micro, small and medium enterprise (MSMEs) stalls.

The facilities also met with great welcome and appreciation from local residents.

Marwati, who lives across Ciliwung River Canal, said that the facilities and infrastructures bring enormous advantages to the residents and children.

“I am delighted. This is the first time I come here. The facilities are so nice that children can play here and will not get bored,” she remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/EP)
