Indonesia and the Arab Republic of Egypt continue strengthening their bilateral relations through four new cooperation agreements in several sectors. The agreements were announced by President Prabowo Subianto at a joint press statement during the state welcoming ceremony for President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Sunday (10/11).

These four new cooperation agreements mark an important step in expanding the countries’ strategic partnership and delivering tangible benefits to their people. The agreements are:

  1.      An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Strategic Partnership Action Plan;
  2.      An MoU on visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, service, and special passports;
  3.      An MoU on statistics; and
  4.      An MoU on marine affairs and fisheries.

In the joint press statement, President Prabowo Subianto said the agreements reflected the two countries’ shared commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Egypt.

“This visit has resulted in several bilateral agreements covering cooperation in marine affairs and fisheries, statistics, investment, the defense industry, the economy and trade, as well as the Strategic Partnership Action Plan,” the President stated.

The agreements in these strategic areas reflect growing opportunities for collaboration between the two countries across a range of sectors. They also reinforce Indonesia and Egypt’s mutually beneficial strategic partnership. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/EP)
