President Prabowo meets with French President Emmanuel Macron during a state visit at the Élysée Palace on Thursday (5/28).

President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (5/28) reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with France in a joint press statement with French President Emmanuel Macron during his state visit at the Élysée Palace.

In his statement, President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the close collaboration between the two countries in advancing bilateral cooperation amid global uncertainty and emphasized the important roles of Indonesia and France in maintaining global peace.

“Looking at future global developments, amid the global situation full of uncertainty, tension, and conflict, we believe our two countries can play a positive role. Indonesia will always encourage every effort to maintain peace. In today’s world, where the earth is getting smaller due to advances in science and technology, war and conflict can no longer bring any good to anyone,” the President said.

President Prabowo Subianto also welcomed the enhanced cooperation between the two countries through the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CEPA).

He also expressed his appreciation for President Macron’s supports for increased investment and economic cooperation between the two nations, including the establishment of France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council, which is expected to further strengthen business relations between Indonesia and France.

“I believe this is very crucial, and we would be very pleased to see the continued participation and presence of French companies in the Indonesian economy. France, as a European leader, will continue to play an essential role in the Southeast Asian region,” the President added.

On global issues, President Prabowo Subianto and President Macron also discussed the importance of stability in the Middle East, which they consider to have a direct impact on global energy conditions and supply chains.

To that end, President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s supports for a two-state solution as a path to peace in Palestine.

“I am also very pleased that France is one of the pioneers in encouraging many countries in Europe and the West to support a two-state solution for Palestinian independence. Indonesia believes that there can be no peace in the Middle East without a two-state solution and without justice for the Palestinian people,” he stated.

On that occasion, President Prabowo Subianto also expressed his appreciation to the French Government for the warm and honorable welcome extended to him and his delegation. He believes that the current bilateral relations between Indonesia and France are at an excellent level.

“Today, I was welcomed with great honor. Once again, thank you. May Indonesia and France continue to move forward with a clear direction and strong commitment,” he said.

Closing his statement, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia views France and Europe as important strategic partners in building a balanced and peaceful multipolar world order. The President also expressed optimism that relations between Indonesia and France will continue to grow, supported by the strong commitment of both countries.

“Your Majesty, once again, thank you for your warm welcome to me and my delegation. I believe that our discussions will yield positive results. Indonesia views France and Europe as important global powers, and we want to see the role of French and Europe further strengthened so that we can work together in a multipolar world,” the Head of State concluded.
