Indonesia and Russia Reinforce Shared Global Vision on Peace, Sovereignty

President Prabowo Subianto and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin have affirmed the shared perspectives of Indonesia and Russia in addressing various global and regional issues.
Both leaders made the statement in a joint press statement following an official bilateral meeting held at the Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg, Thursday (06/19).
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the two countries shared similar principles in international affairs, particularly on conflict resolution and respect for national sovereignty.
“In international affairs, as President Putin mentioned, Indonesia and Russia share many common views. We respect the sovereignty of all nations, we seek to resolve all issues peacefully, and we prioritize collaboration over conflict,” the President stated.
Echoing a similar sentiment, President Putin underscored that the two countries not only share perspectives, but also actively coordinate on various international forum, including the United Nations (UN).
“We note that the positions of Russia and Indonesia on most global and regional issues are very similar or nearly identical. Both countries uphold the principle of sovereignty in the international arena. We are united in promoting peaceful development in the Asia-Pacific region. We coordinate our efforts at the United Nations and other forums,” said President Putin.
These shared perspectives display a strong foundation for the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia that marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
Both leaders also expressed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation not only in the economic and trade sectors, but also in global diplomacy that put peace and regional balance of power above everything. (BPMI) (EST/EP)
