President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (05/14) reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to supporting the independence of Palestine during the opening of 19th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta.

He also called on Islamic countries to unite in facing ongoing global challenges.

“Through this forum, now is the time to move beyond discussions, beyond drafting more resolutions. The Palestinian people have suffered for far too long. They need solidarity and real, concrete action,” he said.

The Head of State went to say that Indonesia will stand with Palestine and support their struggle for independence.

The struggle, he added, will become even stronger if Islamic countries, comprising nations that represent a quarter of humanity, can set aside differences and rivalry, and focus on the common interests of the Islamic community.

In his remarks, President Prabowo Subianto also reminded all of the importance of emulating the great figures in Islamic history who upheld justice, compassion, knowledge, and devotion to the people, such as Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi, Umar ibn Khattab, and Muhammad Al-Fatih.

“In a world plagued with hatred and violence, their legacy shows us that the powers of true leaders are compassion, humanity, and strong determination to always protect the weak,” he added.

The President also called for a unity among Islamic countries so they can hold a strategic position to contribute to science, technology, advanced civilization, while expressing belief that Muslims can once again lead the world if we stand united and prioritize the well-being of the people.
