Indonesia, China Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Cooperation

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (07/27) attended a bilateral meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping at the Jinniu Hotel, Chengdu.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and health sectors, the development of the Nusantara Capital (IKN), and cooperation in research and technology.

On that occasion, President Jokowi applauded the completion of the import protocol for a number of products between Indonesia and China.

“In the future, we need to continue to push for protocol updates and an increase in the swallow’s nest import quota, as well as finalizing the import protocol for Indonesian marine products,” the President said.

Regarding the IKN development project, the President expressed hope that Indonesia and China will continue the cooperation.

Regarding cooperation in the health sector, President Jokowi welcomed the finalization of the action plan for implementing health cooperation between Indonesia and China.

During the meeting, President Jokowi and President Xi Jinping also discussed several regional issues, including ASEAN-China cooperation and China’s support for ASEAN centrality to create a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
