President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (10/15) expressed his strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks, which targeted not only Gaza and Lebanon but also the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping forces stationed in Lebanon.

In his statement to the media, President Jokowi emphasized that such actions cannot be justified, particularly when peacekeeping forces meant to remain neutral, are being targeted.

“Indonesia strongly condemns the Israeli attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, and most recently, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL),” the President said at the inauguration of the Aneuk Muda Aceh Unggul Hebat (AMANAH) Youth Creative Hub held at the AMANAH Central Building, Aceh Besar regency, Aceh province.

On that occasion, the President underscored that attacks on peacekeepers are unacceptable.

The President stated that the troops are present to maintain stability and peace, not to become embroiled in conflict.

“It is unacceptable for peacekeepers to be attacked, and there are others who have also been injured,” he said.

The Head of State made this statement in the context of rising tensions in the Middle East, involving multiple countries and parties, including Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran.

Indonesia, as a nation committed to promoting international peace, reaffirms its stance against all forms of violence and calls for an end to armed conflict.

Through President Jokowi’s statement, Indonesia urges all parties to exercise restraint and uphold international law, particularly concerning the protection of peacekeepers operating under the UN mandate. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/KS/DNS) (RIF/LW)
