Indonesia topped the 11th ASEAN Para Games medal count with 175 gold medals, 144 silver medals, and 106 bronze medals.

In a report after the closing ceremony of the Games, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali Saturday (08/06) said that Indonesian athletes have successfully bagged 425 overall medals in the sports competition for athletes with disabilities.

The Games which adopted the theme “Striving for Equality” was participated by 1,248 athletes from 11 ASEAN countries competing in 14 sports. They were contested for 1,260 medals in 457 matches.

The Minister went on to say that this year Indonesia won the most gold medals in the country’s history in ASEAN Para Games. The number of medals has also exceeded the target set by the Government, namely 104 gold medals.

On that occasion, he also extended his gratitude to the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) for successfully hosting the 2022 ASEAN Para Games and other related parties for supporting the event.

“Indonesia has the experience of hosting the same event in 2011 in the same city, Surakarta. Indonesia successfully held the 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games, as well as other international sport single events so that we can prepare and host the 11th Asian Para Games successfully,” he added.
