President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has urged the public to wait for the official results of the 2024 election from the General Election Commission (KPU).

“The quick count results are based on a scientific calculation method. Nevertheless, we have to wait for the official results from the KPU,” the President told journalists at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Jakarta, Thursday (02/15).

For the record, Indonesia held the 2024 election on Wednesday (02/14) to elect the President, the Vice President, and members of legislative council across the nation.

The preliminary quick count results showed that the Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and Vice Presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka were in the lead, followed by Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD pairs.

Regarding reports of alleged fraud, President Jokowi said that monitoring mechanisms have been provided in polling stations, including the oversight from the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

The President further said that all alleged fraud could be reported to the Bawaslu and the Constitutional Court (MK). (KS/UN) (RI/LW)
