Indonesia, France Affirm Commitment to Global Stability

President Prabowo Subianto, on Wednesday (05/28), held a bilateral meeting with the President of France Emmanuel Macron during President Macron’s state visit to Indonesia. This visit was coincided with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and also served as a momentum to strengthen the strategic partnership that has been established for decades.

“Welcome to Indonesia. Thank you for the great honor given to us through your visit. This year, our countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and more than a decade of strategic partnership,” President Prabowo said in his introductory remarks.

The President went on to say that Indonesia and France’s relations are based on strong political cooperation and mutual respects to sovereignty, independence, human rights, and democracy.

Although cooperation established by both countries has developed rapidly, President Prabowo expressed belief that there are many new potentials and opportunities that can be explored.

“I really welcome today’s meeting, particularly amidst international geopolitical and geoeconomic uncertainties. France and Indonesia may contribute to the improvement of current geopolitical and geoeconomic situation. Once again, thank you for your courtesy visit,” he added.

In the meantime, President Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome paid by the Indonesian Government. He underscored the importance of this visit to deepen strategic partnership among both countries.

“This is an exceptional opportunity to establish a new milestone in the strategic partnership recently reaffirmed by the President, with a number of shared commitments to cooperation in the areas of economy, technology, and security,” President Macron said.
