Indonesia has pointed out the importance of a stable security situation for the implementation of voluntary, safe, and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees.

“If the security situation does not improve, it will be difficult for voluntary, safe and dignified repatriation to be carried out,” said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo during his meeting with State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi on the sidelines of the 34th ASEAN Summit, at the Athenee Hotel, Bangkok, Saturday (22/6).

Indonesia, President Jokowi added, also has a high commitment to continue its contribution to solving the Rakhine State issue.

President Jokowi also stated the importance of immediate follows up on the Preliminary Needs Assessment report recommendations. The President went on to say that Indonesia is ready to again contribute in the following up of the recommendations. (BPMI/EN)
