Indonesia-India United to Maintain World Peace, Strengthen Indo-Pacific Stability

President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (07/06) affirmed Indonesia and India’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation to maintain regional and global peace and stability during the visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Indonesia.

President Prabowo said that Indonesia and India share similar views in supporting efforts to achieve perpetual world peace and strengthening role of the Global South countries.

“Prime Minister Modi and I exchanged our views on various regional and global issues. We will continue to support efforts to promote world peace and stability, and to ensure that voices from the Global South are heard,” he said at the joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (07/07).

Moreover, President Prabowo also stated that Indonesia and India continue to commit to establish a free, open, and transparent Indo-Pacific region that is based on international laws and upholds ASEAN centrality in the region.

He added that both countries will keep supporting dialog and diplomacy and enforcement of international law to resolve conflicts in the Middle East in a peaceful manner.

On that occasion, the President highlighted Indonesia and India’s strategic position as the largest democracies in the world.

“We are recognized as the world’s largest democracies. India officially holds the title of the world’s most populous country, while Indonesia is the world’s fourth-largest country by population. Thus, cooperation between both countries will certainty bring benefits for the region,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/LW)
