According to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, 50 years of ASEAN-Japan partnership has brought many achievements in maintaining stability and peace, creating tight-knit communities, and growing the regional economy.

The President also stated that ASEAN-Japan partnership must be future oriented while expressing hope that Japan as one of the most active partners of ASEAN can continue to be a trusted partner in making East Asia and Indo-Pacific region resilient and the center of economic growth.
“We are all responsible to maintain regional peace, stability, and inclusivity through the strengthening of the habit of dialog and cooperation,” he said while expressing hope that ASEAN-Japan partnership is based on the statement of a joint vision and an implementation plan that is to be produced during the Summit.
President Jokowi also expressed hope that the outcome of the Summit can support the ASEAN Community Vision 20245.
