President Prabowo Subianto Monday (05/05) at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting in Jakarta reviewed his administration’s strategic achievements during his first six months in office, particularly in the economic sector.

“One of the key economic measures in every country is whether the Government is able to control inflation. Indonesia’s inflation is among the lowest in the world—probably among the five lowest,” the President said.

According to him, his administration’s success in controlling inflation is the solid foundation built by the previous administration. He also praised the strong teamwork within the Cabinet.

“In my opinion, our teamwork is strong and our works go as planned. We manage to keep the inflation low, even many countries want to learn from us about how to manage inflation,” he added.

The Head of State also mentioned the Government’s success in maintaining food price stability during critical periods, such as Christmas, New Year, and Eid al-Fitr. He also highlighted the smooth handling of the 2025 Eid homecoming period, which saw the lowest accident rate in history and an increase in the number of travelers.

“I received a report saying that this year’s homecoming is the best in history. The number of accident rate dropped by 30 percent—lowest in history, and more people travelled compared to last year,” he explained.

In the financial sector, the President emphasized that the Government is committed to maintaining fiscal management with the budget deficit remains under control, comparing Indonesia’s performance to several European Union countries that have exceeded the 3 percent deficit limit set by the Maastricht Treaty.

“They are far above 3 percent, violating their own limit. Indonesia is still keeping it below 3 percent,” the President said, adding that the initiatives to support small farmers, including debt relief and controlling high-interest loans as part of the Government’s efforts to protect low-income families while maintaining a prudent state budget.

“Our economic management is quite prudent and careful. One thing that we can be proud of is the budget efficiency,” he said.

The Plenary Cabinet Meeting served as a moment to reinforce the Government’s commitment in maintaining national stability amidst global uncertainty and to continue delivering strategic programs for the people’s welfare. (BPMI) (EST/EP)
