Indonesia, Qatar Continue to Deepen Strategic Dialogue and Partnership through High-Level Meeting at Merdeka Palace

President Prabowo Subianto Monday (06/01) received a visit from Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, particularly in the fields of defense and strategic cooperation.

Sheikh Saoud was welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The meeting served as a forum to strengthen communication and reinforce the already close relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Sheikh Saoud delivered a special message from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to the President.

The Head of State welcomed the Emir’s message and concern, and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to further strengthening its bilateral relations with Qatar.

The two leaders also discussed several issues related to the follow-up of cooperation between the two countries in various sectors.

Previously, in April 2025, President Prabowo Subianto and the Emir of Qatar witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) titled “Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Dialogue between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the State of Qatar.”

This strategic dialogue aims to foster more intensive cooperation in various strategic areas, including politics, international and regional issues, defense and security, counterterrorism, and the economy, particularly in trade and investment. It also seeks to promote cultural exchanges and strengthen people-to-people ties between Indonesia and Qatar.

In addition to discussing bilateral relations, the meeting also reflected both countries’ commitment to further strengthening their already solid ties. The talks between President Prabowo Subianto and Sheikh Saoud took place in a constructive atmosphere marked by mutual respect.
