Indonesia, Qatar Continue to Strengthen Investment Partnership

President Prabowo Subianto held a courtesy meeting with Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (06/15). The meeting discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations, including investment cooperation and preparations for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Qatar.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written release that during the meeting, the Qatari Minister conveyed warm greetings and appreciation from the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to President Prabowo.
“The Emir of Qatar also expressed appreciation for the leadership of President Prabowo and Indonesia’s economic progress, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and nutritious meal program,” the Cabinet Secretary remarked.
The meeting also discussed the planned visit of the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia at the end of 2026. The visit is expected to serve as a key momentum in commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“The planned visit of the Emir of Qatar to Indonesia at the end of 2026 will be an important momentum for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Qatar,” the Cabinet Secretary continued.
During the meeting, Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to continuously expand its investments in Indonesia. The Qatari Government conveyed an investment commitment of US$ 4 billion, while also fostering potential investments across various strategic sectors.
The investment commitment demonstrated Qatar’s confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects and served as part of both countries’ efforts to expand a mutually beneficial partnership. This investment cooperation is expected to support national development agenda, strengthen strategic sectors, and provide tangible benefits to the people of both nations.
