Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that 476,970 foreign tourists visited Indonesia in July 2022.

“In July 2022, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia (reached the highest point) since the pandemic,” Sandiaga said as quoted by the official website of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Tuesday (09/06).

Sandiaga said that most foreign tourists came from five countries, namely Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, and the United States.

“In general, from January to July, the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.2 million. The total increase is almost 15 times,” he said.

The increase was supported by the visa on arrival policy for foreign tourists, especially in Bali. As of July 2022, foreign tourist visits to Bali have reached 246,504 visits.

“This is the highest number after the pandemic with the number of visits per day reaching nine thousand visits. The foreign tourists entered Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa Port,” Sandiaga said.

Regarding the visa on arrival policy, Sandiaga said that currently there are 75 countries eligible for visa on arrival, with the addition of three new countries, namely the Maldives, Monaco, and Colombia.

“There are also nine more countries eligible for visa-free access for tourist visits to Indonesia, namely the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam,” he remarked. (PR of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/UN) (RI/LW)
