During the 9th World Water Forum (WWF) in Dakar, Senegal (03/19), Indonesia won 30 out of a total of 36 votes from Board of Governors of World Water Council (WWC) to host the 10th WWF in 2024.

“We won thirty votes, while Italy only had one and the rest abstained,” Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said in a video uploaded on the Ministry’s Instagram account, Sunday (03/20).

The Minister expressed gratitude to the WWC for the trust to Indonesia to host the event.

Alhamdulillah, we have to work hard to be a better host compared to the previous ones,” he added.

For the record, there are five main criteria considered by the Selection Team, including substance and program, venue readiness and technical aspects, event organizing, communication and marketing, and funding commitment.

For the record, the 10th WWF in Bali will adopt the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity”, which aims to answer global challenges and potentials caused by the rising population growth and urbanization, especially to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation.

“See you in Bali,” Basuki remarked. (Minister of Public Works and Public Housing PR/UN) (GWH/EP)
