Indonesia, Singapore Announce HRD Cooperation

Indonesia and Singapore addressed cooperation in investment and human resource development during recent bilateral meetings.

“Singapore is the largest source of investment in Indonesia since 2014.  I really appreciate Singapore’s commitment to continue investment cooperation including infrastructure projects in Indonesia,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stated during a joint press conference with Singapore President Halimah Yacob at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday (4/2).

Both countries, President Jokowi said, also agreed on cooperation in education, namely:

First, project to strengthen cooperation in block 71, a collaboration between Indonesian businesspeople and business units of one of universities in Singapore;

Second, training cooperation for teachers, polytechnic lecturers, facilitated by Singapore Polytechnic and Ministry of Industry;

Third, training collaboration between Foundation for Development of Disabled Children (YPAC) and  Singapore International Foundation as well as Singapore Health Services;

Fourth, cooperation in education and R&D between universities in both countries.

“I also invite President Halimah to continue to encourage the strengthening of education and R&D cooperation, especially in vocational training and intercommunity relations,” President Jokowi stated.

The President also expressed his gratitude to President Halimah Yacob for her visit to Indonesia.

“I hope President Halimah’s next agenda to visit Yogyakarta tomorrow can run smoothly and successfully,” he concluded. (RSF/EN)
