Indonesia Targets to Finish in Top 8 at Asian Para Games 2018

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed hope that Indonesian athletes can reach Top 8 at the 2018 Asian Para Games to be held from 6 to 13 October in Jakarta and Bogor.

“I hope,we can meet the target, that is, to be in Top 8. It’s much better if we are in Top 6 or 5,” the President said when inspecting the 2018 Asian Para Games’ Shooting and Lawn Bowls athletes, at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium complex, Jakarta, Thursday (27/9).

In order to reach Top 8, according to the President, Indonesian athletes are targeted to win at least 16 gold medals. ” It will be great if they can bag 20, 30 medals,” the President said.

Regarding bonuses for Indonesian Para Games athletes who won medals, the President ensured the amount was the same as that of given to athletes who won medals at the 2018 Asian Games.

“Same bonus. They have same opportunity to become civil servants and enter SOEs,” the President concluded.

Also accompanying the President were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi, Coordinator of Special Staff  to the President Teten Masduki, and Chairperson of the Indonesian Asian Para Games Organizing Committeee (INAPGOC) Raja Okto Saptahari.
