Indonesia will host Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) annual event in 2020, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has announced.
The announcement was made after the President met with South Korean Minister of Environment Cho Myung-rae at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (25/2).

“President Jokowi told us about that (the P4G event),” Minister of National Development Planning/ Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Suharso said after the meeting.

P4G is an initiative to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially in the areas of agriculture, food, water, energy, sustainable cities, and circular economy. The cooperation was initiated by two countries, namely Denmark and the Netherlands.

“Several countries together with other 6 international institutions and a number of international NGO institutions have joined the initiative in the context of accelerating SDGs. Now Indonesia is one of its 20 members,” Suharso continued.

He further explained that in an effort to achieve SDGs, Indonesia is considered good and could be an example. Even though Indonesia’s ranking is still relatively low, he continued, the country is strongly committed to achieving the SDGs.

“These countries may help us to accelerate some of the sectors in the SDGs,” he added.

On this occasion, the South Korean Minister also invited President Jokowi to attend the second P4G meeting in Seoul on 28-30 June 2020. The first P4G meeting was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 19-20 October 2018. (BPMI)
