Indonesia to Host World Islamic Economic Forum
Indonesia to host the 12th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) to be held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, on 2-4 August 2016. Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegogro said that WIEF is quite similar with Word Economic Forum that always be held in January in New Zealand.
If WEF focuses on almost all types of business/financial sectors, real sector, as well as other networking activities, WIEF focuses on Islamic business/financial activities, Bambang told the press after a Limited Meeting, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (20/7).
According to the Minister, WIEF is a foundation that is founded in Malaysia and it has been held 12 times in various countries.
He reminded that Indonesia was the host of the 2009 WIEF. Regarding the event in Jakarta next August, the Minister explained that since it is an economic/a business forum, there would be various programs.
There will be a leaders forum that will involve countries or governments leaders, a ministerial panel, a business exhibition, a number of seminars and workshops or trainings, Bambang said,
On that forum, there will alsobe an exchange of ideas involving young business people as well as Small and Medium Enterprises business people from various countries. They are expected to communicate, sharing experiences and business opportunity. There would be also an art festival that is inspired by creative economy or ideas.
According to the Minister, the WIEF is predicted to be attended by 2,500 participants from 60 countries. They are countries/governments leaders, ministers, multinational companies leaders, academics, artists, Small and Medium Enterprises business people, young business people, and public figures.
The topic of the 12th WIEF is Decentralizing Growth and Empowering Future Business. The most important point is empowering future business. Meanwhile, the subtheme is Islamic finance, the Minister explained.
According to the Minister, President Joko Widodo asked to massively promote Indonesias Islamic fashion and design.
For Indonesia, besides halal products, we will also start to introduce halal tourism or Moslem friendly tourism, he added.
Regarding the guests, Minister of Finance said that his office has received confirmation from four heads of state or government, such as Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Najib Tun Razak, President of the Republic of Guinea Alpha Conde, Prime Minister of Srilanka Ranil Wickremesighe, and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
They will come and will have a special session with Bapak Joko Widodo, besides attending the Gala Dinner, he said,
The WIEF will be opened by President Joko Widodo on 2 August 2016. The President will deliver a keynote speech and open this event, followed by other speeches from other countries or governments leaders, the Minister stated. (FID/DAN/ES)(MMB/YM/Naster)
