Indonesia to Participate in World Expo 2020 Dubai

In a bid to boost trade, tourism, and investment from the Middle East and other markets as well as to promote Indonesian branding abroad, the Indonesian Government is expected to join World Expo 2020 in Dubai.

“I would like to explain the development of the World Expo as well as the President’s directive on it, the Word Expo will be held in Dubai from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021,” Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto said after a limited meeting at the Presidential office, Jakarta, Monday (17/2).

The World Expo will feature historical aspects such as new discoveries and innovations. “It will also feature cultural exchange and promotion, as well as media introduce and promote the branding of cities, regions, and nations as part of each country’s advertising campaign,” Agus stated.

According to Agus, Pavillion Indonesia targets around 2.5 million visitors from the 25 million target visitors at the World Expo, which will be held for approximately 6 months or 173 days. The Expo, he added, will be participated by 190 countries.

The Minister stated that the Expo will be held under the theme of ‘Transforming Future Civilization through Innovation and Diversity’.

“We will showcase an entertaining, interactive, and futuristic concept,” he said.

In the series of the World Expo, the Minister stated, Indonesia will showcase its potential, achievements, and culture on National Day event to be held on 9 January 2021 and the President is slated to attend the event. (TGH/EN)
