President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (04/10) paid a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, marking a reciprocal visit following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s trip to Indonesia last February.

“Your Excellency, I would like to once again extend my deepest gratitude for the warm welcome extended to me and my delegation. It is a pleasure for us to make an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye,” President Prabowo Subianto said during a joint press statement after the meeting.

The President also expressed appreciation for President Erdoğan’s participation in the inaugural High-Level Cooperation Council meeting between the two nations held earlier in Indonesia.

“Our diplomatic ties have spanned 75 years and we are now determined to strengthen our partnership since we share similar values and visions,” he said, adding that the pivotal role of Indonesia and Türkiye in the global arena as influential nations in the Islamic world and leaders of the Global South.

As part of his visit, President Prabowo Subianto also had the honor of addressing the Turkish Parliament—a moment he described as “personally meaningful”.

“This was my first time delivering a speech before a parliament outside of Indonesia. To be honest, I was quite nervous, but alhamdulillah, I was able to deliver it smoothly,” he said, adding that his remarks came from the heart and expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s culture and history.

“Türkiye, as the successor to the Ottoman civilization, is an inspiration for Indonesia. We value this growing cooperation and believe that Türkiye and Indonesia can contribute to global peace,” he remarked. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/EP)
