President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called for the end of violence in the conflict between Palestine and Israel to avoid further humanitarian impact.

“Indonesia urges the immediate end of war and violence to avoid further human casualties and damages of property because conflict escalation may give rise to further humanitarian impact,” he said in his press statement at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/10).

The President also urged that the root of conflict between Palestine and Israel be resolved according to the provisions that have been agreed upon.

“The root of the conflict, namely the occupation of the territory of Palestine by Israel, must immediately be resolved in accordance with the parameters agreed upon by the United Nations,” he said, adding that he has ordered related ministries to protect Indonesian citizens residing in the conflict area.

“I order Minister of Foreign Affairs and related ministries to immediately take swift actions to protect Indonesian citizens in the conflict area,” he remarked. (DND/UN) (DH/MMB)
