President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on New Year’s Eve 2021 said that Indonesia will recover and make various innovations in 2021.

He added that 2020 has been a challenging year. COVID-19 vaccine has brought health and economic crises in 215 countries. The virus has so far infected 82 million people and killed 1.8 million worldwide.

“We also face this challenge. Indonesian must be thankful for being able to go through this,” he said adding that Indonesians must survive and adapt to new normal to curb the pandemic and recover the economy.

The economy, he added, is gradually recovered in the third and fourth quarters of 2020 marked with new investments that will stimulate people’s economy and the industry. It will also increase job opportunities and people’s welfare.

The President went on to say that we must be able to curb the pandemic immediately to recover any sectors next year.

The Government continues to do the utmost in curbing the virus. In addition, vaccination will proceed in mid-January 2021 to achieve herd immunity.

Nevertheless, he still called on the public to always follow the health protocols and not to take this problem lightly.

“By joining hands, hopefully we can go through this difficult time. And 2021 will be remembered as a year of recovery for all of us. Happy New Year 2021, May God the Almighty always give us his blessing,” the President said. (FID/UN) (RAS/MUR)
