Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Andy Rachmianto distributed humanitarian assistance in a form of an ophthalmology clinic and ear nose and throat/ENT clinic to Palestinian refugees, at their camp in Talbiyah, Jordan, Sunday (21/4).

The assistance that is based on cooperation between Indonesian National Alms Agency (Baznas) and JHCO (Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization) is handed over by Andy to Jordan’s Prince El Hassan Bin Talal.

“The humanitarian assistance for Palestinian refugees is a token of Indonesia’s support to the Palestinian struggle for independence,” the Ambassador said in his remarks. The Ambassador also conveyed his highest appreciation for the Jordanian Government’s response to initiatives from non-governmental institutions that wished to share with refugees in need.

Embassy of the Republic in Indonesia in Amman also appreciated the direct role of Baznas that collaborated with JHCO in supporting humanitarian diplomacy activities initiated by the Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as an effort to implement Indonesian foreign policy.

“The cooperation between Baznas and JHCO can set good example for other countries in the efforts to relieve the plight of Palestinian refugees.

In the meantime, Prince Hassan asserted that Baznas provided not only assistance but also token of solidarity of the Indonesian to the Palestinians, and showed strong ties with the Kingdom of Jordan.

“We hope this cooperation can be carried on and developed so it will bring benefits and blessings to all people,” the Prince said.

On that occasion, Baznas Commissioner Irsyadul Halim said that Indonesians feel deep concern about the  Palestinians. For this reason, Baznas facilitated the disbursement of donation of Indonesian people to the Palestinian refugees in Jordan.

Cooperation between Baznas and JHCO is mainly focused on health sector by supporting the Jordan Medical Aid For Palestinians (MAP) in developing three clinics and procuring medicines in Gaza refugees camp, Hattien refugees camp, and Talbiyah refugees camp.

Baznas, through Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan, has disbursed a total of US$150,000 worth medicines to MAP clinic at Gaza refugees camp in Jerash. Distribution of the humanitarian assistance is a follow-up to the collaboration between Baznas and JHCO which was signed on 8 October 2018 in Jakarta, witnessed directly by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi and Palestinian Foreign Affairs Minister Riad Malki.
