Indonesian Ulemas Support Gov’t Measures to Maintain Sovereignty, Bring Prosperity
President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (7/23) expressed appreciation and gratitude for the support given through recommendations from the Indonesian Ulema Ijtima—Indonesian Islamic scholars’ assembly during the 28th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) titled “A New Direction for the Constitutional Economic Mandate”, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Jakarta.
The President valued the recommendations as a mandate and a strength for the Government to execute national development in accordance with the Constitution.
“Today, I received a gift. It was read out just now; the agreement of the Indonesian Ulema Assembly. This is remarkable,” expressed the President.
The President highlighted one of the recommendations, that is the ulemas’ support for the Government’s strategic measures to strengthen national sovereignty, build national resilience, accelerate industrialization and downstream industries, achieve food and energy security, enhance the quality of human capital, and realign national development with the principles of Pancasila and Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, for the greatest possible prosperity of the Indonesian people.
According to him, the recommendations align with his beliefs and conscience that serve as the foundation of his leadership.
“This is a mandate. But this mandate aligns with my conscience,” said the President.
President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of ensuring the nation runs in accordance with constitutional corridors, justice, and good governance. He also showed his appreciation for the ulemas’ commitment to strengthening the people, nation, and state.
“I feel grateful, I feel touched. The recommendations are unbelievable. I think our efforts have been understood and acknowledged, and I believe the parties understand this,” he continued.
Concluding his remarks, President Prabowo underscored that support and mandate from ulemas will become a strength for the Government to keep working hard to maintain national sovereignty, uphold national sovereignty, and bring prosperity for all Indonesians.
