Airbus A330 with flight number JT6001 carrying humanitarian aid from Indonesia to Palestine arrived at El Arish Airport in Egypt on Monday (11/06) at around 13.30 local time, making it the third arrival following that of C-130 Hercules aircrafts A-1237 and A-1238.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pahala Nugraha Mansury who arrived by Hercules aircraft welcomed the third aid arrival at the airport along with Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf.

“Two Hercules airports have arrived earlier and now we are unloading the delivery sent using the third aircraft, Airbus A330, so the aid totaled to 51.5 tons from all segments of society, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Police, from the people via Kitabisa, from the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), and from the Indonesian Red Cross,” Pahala said.

Pahala stated that the aid is a manifestation of Indonesian people’s solidarity for Palestine while expressing hope that the violence in Gaza can soon be stopped.

“We hope that the violence in Gaza can completely be stopped. Moreover, most of the victims thus far are civilians who have nothing to do with the conflict, who are innocent,” he said.

Pahala also pointed out that the third aircraft carried about 26.5 tons of logistics aid in the first phase of humanitarian aid delivery from Indonesia, adding that the total of 51.5 tons of aid were handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent.

“They expressed appreciation for the aid given by the Indonesian people to make efforts to give assistance because they see first-hand the adversity faced by the people of Palestine in Gaza,” he said.

In the meantime, representative of the Egyptian Red Crescent Mahmoud Gamaal stated that his party works 24 hours to receive aid coming to Egypt from all over the world, adding that they will sort the aid based on priority before sending it to Gaza.

“We will set the priorities and the top priority that is urgently needed now is medical aid,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/LW)
