President Prabowo continued his series of visits to disaster-affected areas in Aceh Province by visiting the evacuation centre at SMPN 2 Wih Pesam, Bener Meriah Regency, on Friday (12/12). Since his arrival, the President was greeted enthusiastically by the affected residents at the evacuation centre.

Villagers welcomed the President with emotion, saying, “Thank you, Mr.President,” expressing their gratitude for the Head of State’s visit to the camp housing 1,161 refugees.

At SMPN 2 Wih Pesam, President Prabowo greeted each of the residents affected by the flash floods who were taking shelter at the evacuation centre. The children were excited and immediately surrounded the President, not wanting to miss the opportunity to meet and shake hands with him.

“We just want to come and see the actual situation, see how the peoples are doing, and see what we can do to send aid more quickly.” he said.

In his remarks, the President reiterated the government’s full commitment to accelerating the recovery of disaster-affected areas in Sumatra. The President also said that all response plans had been thoroughly prepared.

“We have prepared a plan. We will repair all bridges, clear landslide-damaged roads, and restore electricity to all areas. If there are still shortcomings, we will immediately address them together. We have deployed dozens of helicopters and dozens of aeroplanes. Yes, we will overcome this together,” said the President.

On this occasion, the President also apologized for the government’s limitations in resolving all issues instantly. However, the Head of State emphasized that all levels of government and officials in the field continue to work hard to handle the disaster in Sumatra.

“We will be with you, everyone. Don’t worry, you are not alone, we will be with you,” he said. (BPMI SETPRES) (AP/LW)
