Intelligence Information is Paramount: President Jokowi

Intelligence information is the key to determining preventive measures amid global instability, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“I order Ministry of Defense to become an orchestrator and to be able to manage our intelligence information on defense and security,” President Jokowi said at the 2023 Ministry of Defense leadership forum, at the Ministry’s office, Jakarta, Wednesday (01/18).

According to the Head of State, the country has several sources of defense and security intelligence information, be it from the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), or the State Cyber ​​and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

“This must be managed so it can become a reliable information; thus, we can formulate accurate policies, or at least come close to it,” he added.

The Ministry has been ordered to be able to convey intelligence information swiftly so it can be used to determine mitigation measures for previously known incidents and to give President Jokowi a heads up.
