President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo asked all related parties to use the momentum of organization of the 2018 Asian Games to bring greatest benefits to the country’s interest. For that reason, President Jokowi asserted people not to think that infrastructures development, including venues for the games, athlete accommodations, and transportations are built only for the Asian Games.

“We build the infrastructures also for the benefits of our nation in the future, particularly in the field of sports,” President Jokowi said in his introductory remarks during a Limited Meeting on the Progress of the 2018 Asian Games Preparation on Tuesday (18/4), at the Presidential Office, Jakarta.

The President also asked all to intensify promotion and information dissemination  regarding the 2018 Asian Games, so that the event will be a magnet that attracts the attention of the world. “I think we have not achieved that state yet,” the President added.

Regarding promotion, President Jokowi instructed all to seize these opportunities properly, and integrate it with Indonesian tourism promotion.

Also on that occasion, the President said that a Presidential Regulation on the Organization of the 18th Asian Games has been signed and will be enacted today.

The Limited Meeting was also attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B. Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi, Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms Asman Abnur, Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Transportation Budi K. Sumadi, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna H. Laoly, Head of Institute for the Procurement of Government Goods and Services (LKPP) Agus Prabowo, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin, and West Java Deputy Governor Dedy Mizwar.
