Introductory Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia H.E. Joko Widodo at the Limited Meeting on Improved Trade and Investment on 5 January 2018, at The Presidents Office, Jakarta
Unofficial English Translation
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
This afternoons Limited meeting is following up on the Plenary Session in which I’ve already made a few things. We will discuss things related to investment and trade.
As you may be aware, international confidence in the management of our economy is increasingly getting better. In the 2014 Ease of Doing Business, Indonesia ranked 120th, now has jumped to rank 72nd.
It’s a very big jump. Likewise, investment grade rating by S & P. Also, Fitch Ratings upgraded Indonesia to BBB. Let us not lose this momentum.
Therefore, once again I want to focus more on investment, and second, on foreign trade exports, be it in the fields of industry, energy and mineral resources, health, education, defense industry, agriculture, marine and fisheries. Everything must be aligned, so that we can address the problems encountered in the field properly.
Previously, I have told this, that we are likened to the sick. Yet, in fact, we are all good. Normal cholesterol level, good heart, good lungs, normal blood pressure, but we cannot run fast. The root of the problem must be sought. No need for medicine, but the root of the problem should be sought. (PR, Cabinet Secretariat) (MUR/YM/Naster)
