Bismillahirahmanirrahim,

Assalamu’alaikum warrahmatullahi wabarakaatuh,

Today’s limited meeting will once again discuss the construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Palembang, Bandung, and the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek).

This is the 6th meeting discussing LRT. The meeting is important because I have decision to make. Actually, I have had so many meetings on this topic and this is not good. However, since there are things that need to be decided,  I agree to have this meeting, the last one.

I want to remind you that there are three points we need to focus on in terms of transportation infrastructure development, particularly in big cities; they are the connectiveness, integration among transportation modes, and modernization. We want to improve everything, but once again, the tracks should connect and integrate the existing transportation modes.

Firstly, the connectivity among regions and areas will boost the economy, increase efficiency, lower logistic and transportation costs. Therefore, once again, our competitiveness will be more improved. Secondly, integration among transportation modes is really important. It will be great if airports and train stations are connected to LRT and MRT lines in Jakarta, for instance, as well as bus lines and seaports. I think it has been included in the plan. I assure you that it has been included.

Thirdly, modernization of transportation facilities and infrastructures. We need to build more modern airports, seaports, and stations with adequate capacity that meets people’s need. The terminals, docks, and runways also need to be expanded. Modernization of all means of transport will be necessary, be it train, bus, or ship for the comfort and safety of passengers.

I think that is all I can say. Firstly, I want to ask the report from the coordinating minister, and it will be followed by the governors who attend this meeting, and the related ministers.

I invite coordinating minister to take the floor. (Humas Setkab)(RAS/AW/YM/Naster)
