: President Jokowi meets with Board of Directors of Inpex Corporation at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday (14/6)

Board of directors of Japanese oil and gas giant Inpex Corporation led by its CEO Toshiaki Kitamura on Tuesday (14/6) at the Merdeka Palace met with President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo to affirm its commitment to continue the development of gas-rich Masela block in Maluku.

Vice President Corporate Service Inpex Corporation Nico Muhyiddin said that the Government’s decision to go with onshore scheme for the project does not discourage Inpex to continue undertaking the project.

“From the beginning, we said that we will respect the decision and we will continue developing the project with onshore model,” Nico told reporters after the meeting.

President Jokowi also fully supports the project, Nico added.

“He stated clearly that he would fully support the project because this is a big project and is also a symbol of a joint project between Japan and Indonesia. And for the interest of regional development, this project is very important,” Nico said.

Also joining the President during the meeting was Minister of State Secretary Pratikno. (DID/JAY/ES) (Naster/EP/YM)
