State-owned toll operator Jasa Marga, on Thursday (30/5) at 13.15 Western Indonesian Time, changed the lane of contraflow from Km 29-Km 61 to Km 35-Km 69 due to traffic jams since a day before to accommodate travelers during mudik (annual exodus ahead of Eid Day) season.

Jasa Marga also added more contraflow lane capacity from one to two lanes, starting from Km 60 – Km 69 which is directly integrated with the one-way lane.

This system is implemented because the opposite lane (Jakarta direction) is relatively empty. The addition of the Cikampek lane is expected to reduce the density of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Cikampek, especially the roads ahead of rest areas in Km 33, Km 39, Km 50 and Km 57.

“Currently, the traffic flow of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road towards Cikampek is relatively smooth. So, Jasa Marga has closed the Km 34+800-Km 69 contraflow lane,” the Head of Jasa Marga Corporate Communication Department Irra Susiyanti stated in a press release.

Meanwhile, at the discretion of the Police, Jasa Marga imposed one-way traffic engineering earlier on Thursday (30/5), at 08.00 Western Indonesian Time from Km 69 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to Km 263 West Brebes.

The one-way system is applied one hour ahead of the designated time (at 9.00 Western Indonesian Time) to ensure the opposite lane (Jakarta direction) was sterile so that no road users were trapped on their way to Jakarta.

To date, the traffic density of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road is reduced by applying 2 traffic engineering systems towards Cikampek. They are contraflow system from Km 29 – Km 61 of Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road which started at 05.30 Western Indonesian Time and one-way system from Km 69 of Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to Km 263 of West Brebes which has been implemented since 08.00 Western Indonesian Time.

The toll operator encouraged buses and non-class I vehicles as well as short-distance road users to continue using normal roadway.

“Drive safely, pay attention to traffic signs and directions of officers on the roads. To experience a comfortable trip, please ensure the adequacy of balance of your electronic money and fuel before entering the toll road,” Irra concluded. (Humas Jasa Marga/Info Mudik 2019/ES)
