I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to President Zelenskyy for welcoming my limited entourage and my visit to Kyiv amid this uneasy situation. I convey to President Zelenskyy that the visit is a manifestation of the Indonesian people’s concern for the current situation in Ukraine.
During the bilateral meeting, I talked about several matters.
First, I directly extended my invitation to President Zelenskyy to attend the G20 Summit to be held in November 2022 in Bali.
Second, I emphasized Indonesia’s principle position regarding the importance of respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Third, even though achieving peace is still in distance, I told the importance of seeking peace and said the spirit of peace must never fade away. To that end, I would like to personally deliver the message from President Zelenskyy to President Putin, to whom I will meet soon.
Fourth, I expressed empathy and concern over the impact of the war on humanity. With our capability, the Government and people of Indonesia will continue distributing assistances including medicines and asserting commitment to supporting the reconstruction of hospitals around Kyiv.
Fifth, I said that Ukraine is vital for global food supply chain. All efforts must be done so that Ukraine can re-carry out food export. It is important for all parties to ensure security for Ukraine’s food export, especially export via sea port. I fully support the United Nations’ efforts related to this issue.
Sixth, on the bilateral note, this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Ukraine. To that end, I said that the Government will continue strengthening bilateral partnership with Ukraine.
