Joint Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia After Bilateral Meeting with President of Belarus during the State Visit of President of Belarus to Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, DKI Jakarta Province, Thursday, July 2, 2026

Your Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus, Honorable Ministers and Distinguished Delegates from both countries,

Members of the media,

First and foremost, I would like to once again extend a warm welcome to President Lukashenko to Jakarta. It is a great honor for the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian people, and for me personally to welcome Your Excellency to Indonesia for your second visit.

More than thirteen years have passed since Your Excellency last visited Indonesia, and today we are honored to welcome you back. We also remain deeply grateful for the warm hospitality extended to us during our visit to Minsk, Belarus, last year. This visit reflects the growing friendship between Indonesia and Belarus amid an increasingly dynamic and uncertain global landscape.

Belarus is an important partner for Indonesia in the Eurasian region, and we highly value a relationship that continues to develop on the basis of mutual respect and mutual benefit. I am confident that this visit will further strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and Belarus and lead to concrete cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.

During today’s meeting, President Lukashenko and I discussed a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening the partnership between Indonesia and Belarus.

On the political front, we welcomed the progress achieved since our meeting in Minsk last year. Today, our two countries launched the Roadmap for Strengthening Indonesia–Belarus Cooperation 2026–2030, which will serve as the framework for advancing our bilateral relations over the next five years. The roadmap reflects our shared commitment to fostering more focused and concrete cooperation.

In the area of food security, we reaffirmed our determination to further strengthen cooperation. Indonesia and Belarus have complementary strengths that provide significant opportunities for collaboration in modern agriculture, fertilizers, agricultural machinery and technology, as well as heavy equipment.

On the economic front, we agreed to further expand our partnership in support of the national development priorities of both countries. Future cooperation will focus on industrial development, agricultural modernization, supply chain resilience, and technological cooperation.

In the area of trade, we appreciate Belarus’s completion of the ratification process for the Indonesia–Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement. Indonesia is also currently undertaking its own ratification process.

In the industrial sector, we see considerable potential to expand investment and promote joint ventures between businesses from both countries, particularly in manufacturing, the automotive industry, heavy vehicles, and agro-industry.

Meanwhile, in the areas of socio-cultural cooperation and human resource development, we agreed to encourage closer collaboration through cultural exchanges and stronger partnerships among educational institutions and vocational training centers.

President Lukashenko and I also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern. We reaffirmed our commitment to supporting international efforts to promote peace and stability.

The strong commitment of Indonesia and Belarus to enhancing bilateral relations was further demonstrated today through the signing of several cooperation documents by the delegates of both countries in the fields of health, culture, national accreditation, financial transaction reporting, industry, science and technology, and financial services. We also enjoy excellent cooperation in the field of defense, and I hope these agreements will be implemented so that they can deliver tangible benefits to both countries in the near future.

Allow me once again to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for Your Excellency’s second state visit to Indonesia. I look forward to reciprocating this visit in the future. I am confident that this momentum will further strengthen the partnership between Indonesia and Belarus and open new opportunities for broader cooperation that delivers tangible benefits to the welfare and prosperity of our two peoples.
