Jokowi Receives Prime Minister of Malaysia, John Kerry, And Prime Minister Tony Abbot
In the first day of his presidency, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) receives guests of states, among them are the Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott, Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak, Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of United States John Kerry, at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta, on Monday (20/10).
Prime Minister (PM) Tony Abbott meets President Jokowi at 07:00 PM for 30 minutes. Issues about economy discussed are subsidies on fuel, electricity consumption, investment, bureaucracy reform including regulations viewed as an obstacle in investment and infrastructure. PM Tony Abbott also invites President Jokowi to present at the G-20 meeting in Brisbane, Australia, in November 2014.
The important thing is to attend the G-20 Summit, said President Jokowi to the press at Istana Merdeka, after meeting with PM Tony Abbott. Both leader talk about the increase of Indonesian student study in Australia.
Invitation By Malaysia
On the other hand, PM Malaysia Najib Razak invites President Jokowi to visit Malaysia. According to PM Najib invitation gets positive respond from President Jokowi by saying would soon visit Malaysia. President Jokowi agrees to visit Malaysia as soon as possible , said PM Najib just before depart to Malaysia on Monday (20/10) evening.
Najib hopes Indonesian government leads by President Jokowi would strengthen bilateral relation of both countries. In the meeting with President Jokowi, PM Najib on behalf of Malaysian government and its people, congratulates President Jokowi and takes a photo of himself by cell phone together with President Jokowi.
When asked about continuity of contacts with former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), PM Najib said would maintain relationship with SBY as best friend.
PM Najib and wife, Rosmah Mansor, arrive in Jakarta on Sunday evening, on the invitation by Jokowi to attend the inauguration of Indonesian President. Besides Najib, other Head of States also attend the event, among them are PM Tony Abbott, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and President of Timor Leste Taur Matan Ruak.
Singapore and United States
President Jokowi during his first day of presidency, also receives PM Singapura Lee Hsien Loong at 05:00 PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs of United States John Kerry in the evening.
