The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) encouraged companies to provide vaccination under Gotong Royong scheme for their workers.

The effort affirmed Kadin’s committed to support the national vaccination program in order to achieve herd immunity.

“We would like to encourage companies to participate in vaccination program under Gotong Royong scheme if they can afford to cover the cost to vaccinate their workers, so they can ease financial burden of the Government,” Kadin’s Deputy Chairman for International Relations, Shinta Widjaja Kamdani, said in her press statement at the arrival of 1,184,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine, Monday (19/7).

Shinta added that the arrival of vaccine is expected to maintain vaccine supply for vaccination under Gotong Royong scheme for private sectors. Previously, the vaccination was halted due to limited stock of vaccine. With the arrival of the vaccine, she called on companies registered in Gotong Royong scheme to vaccinate their workers and families as soon as possible.

“Kadin plays a role in vaccination program through Gotong Royong scheme and supports Kimia Farma (state-owned pharmaceutical company) to immediately provide vaccine workers and families in which the cost will be borne by the companies,” she said.

In addition, the Kadin also launched a program to support the handling of COVID-19 pandemic by establishing a number of self-isolation facilities, providing medicines and medical devices, and foods for the people in needs.

“On 18 July, Kadin in cooperation with GoTo group and Samator (industrial gas company) has initiated the establishment of a health facility, namely oxygen center (Gotong Royong Oxygen House) in order to support the handling of COVID-19. The center will be equipped with oxygen devices and beds for families of COVID-19 patients,” she explained.

On that occasion, Shinta also affirmed support of Kadin to the Government’s policy in the handling of COVID-19, by complying with the regulations of Emergency Public Activity Restrictions (PPKM Darurat).

“It is a part of our efforts to help the people during the pandemic. Kadin also believes Indonesia will be able to revive and get through this crisis through mutual cooperation,” she concluded.(DND/AIT/UN)(RAS/LW)
