Kadin Ordered to Meet Target of 22 Million Doses of Vaccine for Gotong Royong Vaccination Scheme

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to meet the target of injecting 22 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) vaccination scheme.
“The target is 22 million [doses] but because the vaccine hasn’t arrived yet, this is what we will pursue later with the new chairperson and board of directors of Kadin so that the target of 22 million vaccine doses for Gotong Royong Vaccination can be fulfilled in July to August, as well as in the following months,” the President said at the Opening of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Conference VIII in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, Wednesday (30/06).
For the record, the national vaccination drive launched by the Government and the Gotong Royong vaccination scheme carried out by the private sector are collective efforts to achieve herd immunity.
President Jokowi also said that Indonesia ranks 11th out of 215 countries on the achievement of COVID-19 vaccination with 42 million vaccine doses having been injected.
On that occasion, the Head of State also ordered that vaccination should continue to be accelerated according to the target that has been set.
“Now, there’s no haggling, I’ve said it, a million [doses per day in July] is a must! In August, two million [doses per day] is a must! Because the key to economic recovery is to solve this COVID-19 problem,” he said.
The President also unveiled the target for the national vaccination drive from July to December, namely 34 million doses in July, 43.7 million doses in August, 53 million doses in September, 84.1 million doses in October, 80.9 million doses in November, and 71.7 million doses in December.
The President expressed optimism that the target can be achieved as long as the supply of vaccines can be maintained.
“Indeed, this is not a small target, but yesterday after we tried it for a day, we can achieve 1.3 million [per day], I believe, increasing it to 2.5 million is not a difficult task as long as the vaccines are available,” he said. (DND/UN) (FI/EP)
