Based on Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2016 on the Organizing of the 2018 Asian Games, the Indonesian Government through Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is responsible for the construction of the Athlete Housing Complex in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta and Jakabaring Sports Complex, Palembang to support the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

Kemayoran Athlete Housing, also known as Athletes Village, consists of 10 towers with 21,976 units. However, the athletes will only occupy five out of 10 towers that have been built.

For the upcoming Asian Para Games, to be held from 6 to 13 October 2018, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is preparing several necessary improvements for the arrival of athletes with special needs from various countries, including ramps, lifts for wheelchair access, signage and directories in public areas, railings on stairs, and guide tiles for the athletes.

In addition, the Ministry also has completed the renovation of 1,000 rooms and added 6 lifts  for disabled athletes in each tower to provide ease and comfort for them. Regarding the utilization status of Kemayoran Athlete Housing, it will be determined after the Games is concluded.

For the record, the Kemayoran Athlete Housing is built on a state-owned land and the management is handled by Ministry of State Secretariat. (Public Communication Bureau of Ministry of PUPR / EN) (STU/EP/Naster)
