KKSK: Indonesian Economy Stable

Based on the result of the KSSK (Financial System Stability Committee) meeting on Thursday (23/5), it is believed that the Indonesian economy remain stable.

“To this day, the public and business entities believe the Indonesian economy after the announcement (election results) will remain good,” Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said after the meeting at her office, Jakarta.

Furthermore, Sri Mulyani is concerned with the recent riots that happened in the capital. However, she believes that the law enforcement authorities can anticipate and resolve the riots in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations. According to the Minister, this belief is the basis of economic management and will be reflected in national economic indicators.

Sri Mulyani also said that the holiday allowance disbursement process had been partially realized and she would continue to monitor the remaining disbursement. “I hope that the security will be maintained so that people can attend Ramadan and celebrate ‘Eid al-Fitr together with their families and gives a positive impact on the economy,” she added.

According to the Minister, the KSSK will work according to its task and will continue to maintain the stability of the financial sector in order to safeguard the country’s economy.

On the occasion, Governor of central bank Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo stated that in order to fulfill the needs of money on the ‘Eid holiday season, Bank Indonesia had increased money exchange services to welcome the ‘Eid at 2,975 points, both at the central and branch offices.

Also attending the meeting were Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso and representatives of the Chairperson of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS). (Humas Kemenkeu/ES)
