The President said that the inspection goes smoothly and the mass transportation mode is expected to start operating by the end of August 2023.

“Hopefully on August 26 [can be operational],” said the President in his press statement at Dukuh Atas station, Jakarta, after the inspection.

The President added that the current inspection is to ensure the readiness of the LRT system, one of which is related to the suitability of the train car stops at each station.

“So I would like to try it again. Previously it needed some adjustments in the system. Today, I checked at several stations and now everything good,” he said.

In addition, the President expressed the importance of security and safety aspects in LRT operations.

“The most important thing is safety and security,” he underlined.

Regarding tariff for the LRT, the President said that the Government will provide subsidies so that it could attract people’s interest to use this mass transportation.

“All mass transportation modes, including airport trains, Trans Jakarta, LRT, MRT, high-speed train, everything must get subsidies because it can attract people to shift from using private cars to mass transportation modes,” he said. (AIT/UN) (EST/MMB)
